Here is a little plant I found today. I think it could be poison oak. I am working on a macro this week for the print competition.

I really need to get out tomorrow or have have something else to use as a model because I am getting tired of the same ole thing (me). At least my model is always nearby and it does give me the opportunity to see some of the effects of the Honl light modifiers. The lighting tonight was the Canon 430EX II fired @ 1/8 power with a RadioPopper JrX. I used the Honl system strap and snoot opened up as a reflector.

Here is a foggy one from fort point on the 20th anniversary of photoshop. I am using a trial version of Silver Effects Pro to see how I like it. And I do.

Here I used 2 lights. A bit more power than I like. At post I was looking through the Nik Color Efects trial that I am using and found this polaroid transfer effect that I like.

Thought I would do a 2 flash photo tonight using the IR remote and holding the cat. Everything went fairly well except that it was a 1 light shot. Found out the second flash works much better with the batteries. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.
The Canon 430EX II was fired at 1/4 power with RadioPopper through an umbrella.

Tonight I wanted to get a change in background and a nice change in subject too. It’s’ nice to have someone with me in the photo and who better than my Joey. Behind us is one of her great murals.
Strobist info:
Canon 430EX II at 1/2 power fired with the RadioPopper JrX and through an umbrella.

I have wanted to start working the strobes outside. So this evening I took the bare strobe on a light stand and shot some of the plants on our deck. It’s not quite what I am looking for (not by a long shot) but it is the start of some experimenting to find the cool light that I want. (and not bad for a Monday either)

Trying to determine if I get more light on a shoot through or a bounce of the umbrella. As you can see in my glasses this is the bounce shot but I still don’t know the answer since my little studio is small and I didn’t get the speedlite at the same distance on each shot.
This is my Canon 430EX II camera left near me bounced off the umbrella. Fired with the RadioPopper @ 1/4 power. Camera is manual with f8 and 1/250.

A little playing around in Camera Raw on this one. Taken with the wonderful 50mm. I was playing around with of the Adobe Camera Raw tools that I normally don’t touch.

The Lone Sailor at the north viewpoint overlooking the Golden Gate bridge. I did some post on this one. Did a smart-object and then made a copy to get some details in the shadows. Used mostly tools in Camera Raw.
