365/88 – Treasure Chest Bear

365/88 – Treasure Chest Bear, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Yesterday we had an off-site company meeting. It was good as always. We did a couple of team building deals and one was a treasure hunt / scavenger hunt exercise. We got to wear pirates hats and carry around a parrot on a stick. We had a list of 40 items that we were supposed to get pictures of like a fire truck, a stranger, a dog, a pink flamingo, etc. Each photo had to have at least one team member (there were 4 on each team) wearing the pirate (paper) hat and holding the parrot on a stick. We did this for an hour during a week day and downtown during this town’s rodeo week. I was a blast and the team I was on won. We found 39 of 40 items. A bear and a treasure chest were both on the list.

365/87 – Old Tone

April 14th, 2010 by ronlute

365-87 – Old Tone, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Working with 2 lights tonight and ended up going too underexposed and found out that, yes, more rather than less light. I did some fixing (can’t really do that much yet) and then made lightly saturated sepia look.
The lighting was with the Canon 430EX II high camera right at 1/4 power bounced with the umbrella and fired with the RadioPopper JrX and the Vivitar 285HV at 1/16 power shot though a white umbrella and fired with the Sonia Optical Slave. It was all done at 1/200 at f8 and ISO 100. Should have been ISO 200 and then maybe the lighting would have been enough.

365/86 – Rosebud

365/86 – Rosebud, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

I put the fifty on this evening and went to my Dad’s. The flowers are starting to bloom but the rain this week slowed the process a bit. This is one of the early rosebud and in a week or two there will be plenty. I played around a bit (or a lot) with Topaz Adjust for this look.

365/85 – Whatever

365/85 – Whatever, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Bad lighting. The good thing about mistakes is if you can learn then they are not wasted. Got a shadow where I didn’t need or want one. Hopefully I’ll not make that mistake again.
The lighting info:
Canon 430EX II high camera right fired @ 1/2 bounced off an umbrella with the RadioPopper JrX and my Vivitar @ 1/4 power low camera left fired with the Sonia optical slave with the Honl snoot opened for a reflector.

More afternoon hackin. Love the light in these shots. The afternoon sun and the bounce off the inside corner of the white brick building.
