Wow. Too many days without. Went a whole week w/out picking up the camera. Here is just a nearby sign. It is a nice one.

We were gone last week so today we had my parents over for “Mother’s Day” It was a great time with Bar-B-Q and a nice visit. I also realize it’s great to take family portraits whenever possible because it won’t be forever.

I had a chance to do a photo shoot today. A young lady was going to the Prom and I took some photos of her in her beautiful dress, her wonderful shoes, with her family, with her BFFs and of course with her date. These are her magical shoes.

Yes. It is that time of year when the weeds need whacking and defensible space is required. Soon it will change from 70s and 80s to 90s and 100s. And then all the cool greens will turn to brown. This year with the drought cycle being broken the grasses and weeds are especially tall and it wouldn’t surprise me if they have to be whacked twice. For now though it all looks pretty cool.

Another photo with the bokeh master’s kit. This one is so, so and I couldn’t think of a title that didn’t wasn’t too dumb. I found out tonight that I have to work on getting the bokeh part in a little sharper focus and I’m not exactly sure how to do it yet. That will be something to work on and experiment with. Guess that is part of what is so great about it all and why it’s so frustrating to not have more time at times.

Finally got my “Bokeh Master Kit” on Friday. Gone for the weekend and wanted to get a chance to try it out so I put the paw on. This is going to be fun to use at the right times and in the right place. It does a nice job turning the bokeh into the shape of the cut-out. As usual the biggest detriment to my photography is the lack of time.

Here’s one with the”biggest” glass I have. Not great but ok for a quick Friday shoot at the river in a place that I ended up at.

I took a somewhat bland photo of a nearby alley from the upper deck parking and did a couple of passes with Topaz Adjust to end up with this rather painterly effect.

Did a quick family group portrait with one light. The 430EX II high camera left fired with the RadioPopper at 1/2 power and bounced from a Westcott 45″ umbrella.
A little dark of course on the away side of the flash but I like this look better than fully light and kind of boring.

The title tells. I often find that for the self-portrait I look way too serious. On this one I put on the EF-s 55-250mm lens. Not my favorite but part of the reason I bought it was decent reviews so I best take a better look at it. Since I have a camera that can go higher in the ISO range than the previous one it will open up new possibilities.
The lighting on this is a single 430EX II high camera right bounced off a white umbrella at 1/4 power fired with the RadioPopper JrX. Post processing with Topaz Adjust and a pass with Exposure Correction and then a pass of Portrait Drama.
