the photographic journey of a Redding man

This Annular Solar Eclipse is cool but not extremely rare except that it was just a narrow band across the planet and this time we, in Redding, happened to be in the zone.
I had forgot to be ready for the eclipse and was actually out shopping when I overheard someone saying “don’t look directly at it” and then I remembered. I got home and unloaded my groceries and grad my Canon. Driving home I thought about how would I be able to shoot this.
Here is what I immediately came up with. Put my circular polarizer and stop down to the tiniest aperture and set the fastest shutter. For my T2i and 28-135mm it was f36 at 1/4000 of a second. It ended up doing a fair job. In Lightroom I used the adjustment brush so I could show some of the tree branches. Thought it gave a nice touch.
It really does help to get to know your equipment.
