Duck Soup

Here is nice one from the week-end and my walk along Highway 44. I’m still having fun with the new Perfect Effects but I realize that I really need to get the Wacom tablet working again as it would be a big plus on the editing work. The onOne products are made to work nicely with the tablets so why not I say.

Gnarly One

I love trees. I like them when there are bare in the winter. I also love finding odd shaped ones like this. Of course it’s a bonus finding it in the evening with some nice light to go with it. And a double bonus now that I have the new onOne 7 and I can find some great effects to help bring out that cool light in a not some overpowering way. Yes, I think that I am really loving this Perfect Suite 7. Thanks to +Colby Brown and +Brian Matiash for turning me on to onOne.

The Real Deal

The Real Deal, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

This is it. For now at least I will be using onOne for my Black & White conversions. I got a chance to view to the quick tour video tonight and I am impressed the tools available in this new program. I didn’t get a chance to use much tonight but I am impressed.
I am also anxious to see what else I can do with the onOne software so I’ve ordered Nicole Young’s book to help in that process.

Perfect Rebar

Perfect Rebar, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

I’m thinking this may be a good thing. Perfect Suite 7 that is. I briefly tried out another part of the new OnOne Suite. It’s their newest product, Perfect Black & White. It’s really late and I need to get to bed but what I saw in the minute or two I was looking is quite promising. It looks like there’s a lot nice tools to control the B&W conversion. I look forward to getting some time to really see what it can do.

A Forty-Four View

A Forty-Four View, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

A view from the trail along Highway 44. It’s such interesting landscape along the Sacramento River and I love it when there are clouds. I have to admit I am still trying to find “my” way in post but I downloaded the trial of Perfect Suite 7 tonight and I’ll testing it out for the next few weeks. Tonight I just looked for some of the filters I usually use but in the next week I’ll try to really figure it out. Might even order the Nicolsey book to really get it all figured out the right way.

Crazy Bird

Crazy Bird, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

I got a shot of this great bird today but it was kind of far away and the picture was a bit noisy, so… I tried to use onOne and give an artsy look. I do like the look except for one thing. The color/tone of the bird is too close to the background so it doesn’t have enough contrast to stand out very well.

Cement, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Cement. Old cement. I have discovered some fun stuff this week. I trip out in the countryside here when it is green especially can be rewarding. Using the 50mm f1.4 and converting to Black & White with Nik makes some nice photos. I realize the parts that cause them to work so I’ll be after some more when I get a chance, like this week-end.
I was able to finish my weekly assignment a little early so I may well have a chance to get out this week-end. We’ll see.

A Board Study

A Board Study, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Once again a little study in Black & White with the 50mm f1.4. A great little lens that can make for some fun images. As I am getting a little tired and bored I think this is all that I’ll write tonight.

Clear Creek Canyon

Once again I find that I just can’t resist doing a Black & White sometimes and Nik Software makes it so easy. I know I’ve discussed this before but the presets in my mind are such a good way to start and often almost all that is needed on some images. This is one of those that didn’t get too much tweaking after the initial use of the Low Key 1 Preset. I just tweaked a couple of sliders a bit to get a little more of complete tonality in my mind and I was ready. Hope this works for you as it does for me.

Short Stack

February 19th, 2013 by ronlute

Short Stack, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Sometimes taking a walk in the country you find something that just begs to be shot. Not something that is naturally occurring but still kind of fun. You almost wish that rocks would form this way and I guess that out in the desert with no one around to disturb you might actually find such a thing but not really likely when you are 3 minutes walk from houses. Still a fun find when out with the grand-kids.
