Lucy just doesn’t like to get her picture taken. At least not by me with my flashing umbrella. When I try to take Lucy’s picture she just moves away and is obviously nervous about the whole affair. Tonight I hand held the camera with the Canon 430EX II on a stand with a shoot through umbrella. All fired with the JrX. Other than the shy model it works nicely.

Here it is. My first photo with a single flash fired with the new Radiopopper. Didn’t have much time and at first I thought it wasn’t working but I just have to pay attention to the hot-shoe contact and it works fine. In a day or 2 I will have the replacement optical slave and I hope that works OK so I can do 2 flash protraits. If not then I’ll just have to save up for a second receiver.

Well October is an important month. Breast Cancer awareness and Think Pink in Shasta County. On 10/15 the Think Pink organization gave out their “bag-o-goodies” as they’ve been doing for a number of years now. In the bag this year was a “Think Pink” calendar and I had two photos (October 2009 and February 2010) in the calendar. Here is a photo that I took this last Sunday that may well be a nice one for next year’s version.

The theme was eyes. I wanted to get a young girl’s eyes or model’s. My baby said NO, not this time. So I went with the absolutely cool cat Glen and guess what? I won a ribbon and the member’s choice award. Often women know best.

I finally got my new camera a couple of weeks ago and it has been fun learning what it can do. It is a Canon 400D (Rebel XTi). Here’s a shot that would have been most difficult with the old 3 megapixel Olympus. The quick shutter and the great burst mode make these shots possible now. The neighbor’s German Short Hair dog Stoli is pretty quick and was running back and forth in the yard. This action shot was my favorite of the ones I got. I just loved the ears flopping as he ran.
