Today I led a group photo walk. It was part of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk which he has organized the past 3 years. I’m glad that i did it. I wanted to do it last year but didn’t feel like I could but felt OK this year. I put together a route through downtown and in the process learned some of the local history.
Met some great people and hopefully some of us will see more of each other. I believe some will join the Shasta Photo Club. Anyways it was a great experience and I look forward to the next one.

Just 6 more days till the 24th of July and the 3rd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. This is the photoshop guru and prolific author brainchild. I just missed getting in an application last year but made it this year. Here is where we will start the Redding walk. We’ll be meeting at the Westside Java & Caffe and end our walk about 2 hours later at Grilla Bites. As of Sunday night we have 32 signed up and 18 more spots open. Should be a great time!

Here is one from Marketfest and the Zydeco band that played. I really didn’t like how it turned out so I used a photoshop artistic filter and give it the filmgrain effect.

There have already been some nice Marketfests this year as the weather has been cooler than normal. Most have been under 100 degrees which really rocks. The band last week was a Zydeco band so the music was sweet. Loved the back light on this happy dancer.

I had a chance to do a photo shoot today. A young lady was going to the Prom and I took some photos of her in her beautiful dress, her wonderful shoes, with her family, with her BFFs and of course with her date. These are her magical shoes.

Yesterday we had an off-site company meeting. It was good as always. We did a couple of team building deals and one was a treasure hunt / scavenger hunt exercise. We got to wear pirates hats and carry around a parrot on a stick. We had a list of 40 items that we were supposed to get pictures of like a fire truck, a stranger, a dog, a pink flamingo, etc. Each photo had to have at least one team member (there were 4 on each team) wearing the pirate (paper) hat and holding the parrot on a stick. We did this for an hour during a week day and downtown during this town’s rodeo week. I was a blast and the team I was on won. We found 39 of 40 items. A bear and a treasure chest were both on the list.

I don’t normally watch football. I mean I’ve watched maybe 2 super bowls in my life. But the whole New Orleans thing got me this year. I have some cajun blood on my mom’s side of the family. She grew up in New Orleans and she had 9 brothers and sisters. So you see there is a bit of family there.
So I watched the game today and the Saints won. Now this is as close as I have to a Saints shirts, this Morning Cafe shirt from New Orleans.
Lighting today was a little different than I usually do. Main light was the Canon 430EX II high camera right fired with the RadioPopper JrX @ 1/2 power but shot into the umbrella instead of my usual through the umbrella. My Vivitar was fired @ 1/16 and low camera left with the Sonia optical slave at the wall behind me using a Honl snoot.

The National Juried Show at North Valley Art League in Redding has been judged and my baby won an Award of Excellence. It is very cool and comes with the big blue ribbon and a cash prize. It was great to see her get recognized for her excellent art.
She didn’t get best of show but this award is basically 2nd place and considering all the entries from as far away as New York it is quite an honnor. She is most talented.
