I don’t normally watch football. I mean I’ve watched maybe 2 super bowls in my life. But the whole New Orleans thing got me this year. I have some cajun blood on my mom’s side of the family. She grew up in New Orleans and she had 9 brothers and sisters. So you see there is a bit of family there.
So I watched the game today and the Saints won. Now this is as close as I have to a Saints shirts, this Morning Cafe shirt from New Orleans.
Lighting today was a little different than I usually do. Main light was the Canon 430EX II high camera right fired with the RadioPopper JrX @ 1/2 power but shot into the umbrella instead of my usual through the umbrella. My Vivitar was fired @ 1/16 and low camera left with the Sonia optical slave at the wall behind me using a Honl snoot.

The National Juried Show at North Valley Art League in Redding has been judged and my baby won an Award of Excellence. It is very cool and comes with the big blue ribbon and a cash prize. It was great to see her get recognized for her excellent art.
She didn’t get best of show but this award is basically 2nd place and considering all the entries from as far away as New York it is quite an honnor. She is most talented.

Amazingly our dollar store balloons for our New Year’s Eve Party are still floating. It was a fun party as usual but the smallest turnout that we’ve ever had. I’ve been playing with Topaz Adjust lately which is a nice little PS Plug-In and makes it easy to put a little interest in an otherwise somewhat boring shot.

Took a lens class at Crown Camera sponsored by the Photo Club. The real reason that I took the class was to borrow a lens for a time after. I borrowed a 60mm Macro lens. Pretty nice though a 100mm Macro would allow me to focus on the small stuff from a little farther away.

Well October is an important month. Breast Cancer awareness and Think Pink in Shasta County. On 10/15 the Think Pink organization gave out their “bag-o-goodies” as they’ve been doing for a number of years now. In the bag this year was a “Think Pink” calendar and I had two photos (October 2009 and February 2010) in the calendar. Here is a photo that I took this last Sunday that may well be a nice one for next year’s version.

Here is a group of musicians that I saw at the Ducky Derby last week. It reminded me of days past. Some things change but as they say there is nothing new under the sun. Not quite true any more but certainly not entirely false.

In a little while I have my opening at Redding City Hall. It’s been a time coming and I hope to do it again someday. I know that I will have advanced so much more in my skills if I do have another show someday. I love some of my past work but I am most excited about the new skills I am learning.
