Something Different

Something Different, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

And now… It was time to do something else. I took a shot of an interesting branch and ran some Color Efex filters on it. Well obviously I need some more learning on the Nik software but I will get there. I will also get out with the camera in a day or two (depending on tomorrow’s rain). It’s been almost 2 weeks after all. This image has the foliage and midnight filters applied.

State Theater – Red Bluff

December 20th, 2012 by ronlute

State Theater – Red Bluff, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

The old State Theater in Red Bluff, California. I’ve never lived in Red Bluff but I have some fond memories. Back in the 70’s I was at Lake Shasta on a motorcycle and had some issues with the clutch and transmission. The bike shop in So. Cal. had set up my bike poorly. I went to Red Bluff and on the way my shift cable broke. The shop in Red Bluff not only fixed everything but barely charged me anything. I knew then that there was something special about a small town.

The Great Mountain & Coming Changes

The Great Mountain – B&W, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Well I guess it’s time to pay attention. This has always been one of those things where I am just about to get a regular habit of posting and it doesn’t happen. But as I’ve said that is about to change. I’ve recently started paying attention (as I’ve said) and now I will start using the power of WordPress and we shall see!

Old Fella

We found these wonderful old olive trees in Gerber. Grafted from 100 year old trees they are like bonsai on steroids. Absolutely beautiful.

Here’s one from December. I did a family portrait shoot with a friend. This young man is stationed overseas and was home for Christmas.

Downtown Action

Downtown Action, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Here is one from the Redding walk. I like the look the telephone compression gives here. With La Cabana sign and the sidewalk full of people (and the compression helps with that view) it reminded me of big city street or possibly a street in Mexico. The Topaz Adjust also gives an interesting look.

Westside Java & Caffe – Starting point

July 18th, 2010 by ronlute

Westside Java & Caffe, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Just 6 more days till the 24th of July and the 3rd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. This is the photoshop guru and prolific author brainchild. I just missed getting in an application last year but made it this year. Here is where we will start the Redding walk. We’ll be meeting at the Westside Java & Caffe and end our walk about 2 hours later at Grilla Bites. As of Sunday night we have 32 signed up and 18 more spots open. Should be a great time!

365/127 – Afternoon Cloud

365/127 – Afternoon Cloud, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

I had to turn around and find a place to get a shot of this cloud. It was just too interesting to resist. I believe there were some thunderstorms this day as there often is over Mt Lassen.

365/126 – Really Post

July 13th, 2010 by ronlute

365/126 – Really Post, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

OK. I’ve tried to refrain from this but it has to be done occasionally. I got a 3rd strobe and need to start working with it to see what I can do. Unfortunately I didn’t write down the lighting info and now I don’t remember all but I did have the 430EX II and reflective umbrella high camera right and the Vivatar and shoot thru umbrella low camera left fired with the optical slave. I had my new (old) promaster flash as a hair light with the Honl grid. This was fired with a Promaster module as a slave. The Canon strobe was fired with the RadioPopper JrX and the main light.
And Oh yeah. I used some Topaz Adjust and PS filters to try and pretty the portrait up. (ha! ha!)

365/125 – MarketFest

July 13th, 2010 by ronlute

365/125 – MarketFest, originally uploaded by ronWLS.

Here is one from Marketfest and the Zydeco band that played. I really didn’t like how it turned out so I used a photoshop artistic filter and give it the filmgrain effect.
