A shot from the photo walk in Redding. For the second year I was privileged to be a leader in Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk. It’s a great experience and I’ve met some great photographers in the process.

Here’s one from December. I did a family portrait shoot with a friend. This young man is stationed overseas and was home for Christmas.

Here is one from the past summer of a co-worker’s little dog. I’ve neglected any posts for a while since I have not been out with the camera much lately. As soon as I get the knee surgery I will be out there firing away with my Canon once again. It really sucks being incapacitated so much.

This is my first attempt at a 1 exposure HDR using CS5. I know I have a long ways to go to really get comfortable with using the HDR tools and getting the image the way I want whether it is a single exposure or bracketed set. I did watch a nice video by Julieanne Kost on Adobe TV. There are lots of good videos there for PS and Lightroom and all the other products. Well worth the time to view.

A different view of the Diestelhorst Bridge but a view nonetheless. The really great thing about this photo today is the fact that I am walking again w/out the use of the cane that I’ve been hobbling around on the past month. It is absolutely wonderful to be walking again and doing so with a camera in my hands.

Just to show that Canon and Nikon can play together My friend Aaron and me shooting at a wedding reception. Aaron was too kind to help me out on my first one. It was a nice event and I do appreciate his help.

It was a first for me and what is totally amazing is that my knee had been giving me grief for about 2 or 3 months. The night before the wedding it pretty well felt normal again so the shooting on Saturday went a lot easier than it could have.

I brought some strobes with me but I didn’t use them. The ceremony outside in the park and for the reception I just cranked up the ISO on my T2i. With the noise reduction in Lightroom 3.2 I am quite happy with the results.

Here is one from the Redding walk. I like the look the telephone compression gives here. With La Cabana sign and the sidewalk full of people (and the compression helps with that view) it reminded me of big city street or possibly a street in Mexico. The Topaz Adjust also gives an interesting look.

Today I led a group photo walk. It was part of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk which he has organized the past 3 years. I’m glad that i did it. I wanted to do it last year but didn’t feel like I could but felt OK this year. I put together a route through downtown and in the process learned some of the local history.

Met some great people and hopefully some of us will see more of each other. I believe some will join the Shasta Photo Club. Anyways it was a great experience and I look forward to the next one.

Just 6 more days till the 24th of July and the 3rd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. This is the photoshop guru and prolific author brainchild. I just missed getting in an application last year but made it this year. Here is where we will start the Redding walk. We’ll be meeting at the Westside Java & Caffe and end our walk about 2 hours later at Grilla Bites. As of Sunday night we have 32 signed up and 18 more spots open. Should be a great time!
